These spooky yet cozy witch finger pretzel rods are dipped in white chocolate, topped with an almond fingernail, and finished with a dab of red jam for a bloody cuticle. Perfect for Halloween parties or a fun, easy treat any time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 standard 12-ounce bag pretzel rods (about 24 rods)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate melting wafers
  • ¼ cup slivered almonds (blanched)
  • 2 tablespoons red jam or jelly (raspberry or strawberry)
  • Green food coloring (optional)
  • Edible glitter or shimmer dust (optional)
  • Black gel icing (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your workspace. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Melt the white chocolate. Place the white chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until completely smooth (about 1.5 to 2 minutes total).
  3. Dip the pretzel rods. Hold a pretzel rod by one end and dip it into the melted white chocolate, leaving about an inch undipped at the top (the ‘wrist’ area). Gently twist and turn to coat evenly. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
  4. Place on the baking sheet. Lay the dipped pretzel rod on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining rods.
  5. Add the fingernail. While the chocolate is still wet, press a slivered almond onto the tip of each pretzel rod, pointed end outward. Press gently so it sticks.
  6. Create the ‘bloody’ cuticle. Using a toothpick or small knife, dab a tiny amount of red jam at the base of the almond (where it meets the chocolate).
  7. Add details (optional). Use a toothpick or piping bag to draw small wrinkles or lines on the chocolate to mimic knuckles. Add a tiny dot of black gel icing for a ring or wart if desired.
  8. Let them set. Allow the pretzel rods to set completely at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes. Do not refrigerate.
  9. Check for doneness. The chocolate should be firm to the touch and no longer sticky. Gently lift one rod to ensure it’s fully set before serving.

Notes

For dairy-free, use dairy-free white chocolate. For nut-free, skip almonds and use a small piece of dried apricot or candy corn for the fingernail. Do not refrigerate as moisture can cause chocolate to bloom. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Freeze for up to 2 months.
