Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji recommended)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (toasted if desired)
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter (for extra rich caramel drizzle)
  • 1 teaspoon flaky sea salt
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries (optional)
  • For homemade caramel sauce:
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry apples. Core and slice into 1/4-inch thick rounds. Remove seeds. Arrange slices in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Warm caramel sauce in a microwave-safe bowl for 20-30 seconds until pourable. If making homemade, cook brown sugar, heavy cream, and butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened (5-7 minutes). Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and salt, and let cool slightly.
  3. Melt semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second bursts, stirring after each, until smooth. Repeat with white chocolate chips if using.
  4. Optional: Toast pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Arrange apple slices on serving platter or baking sheet. Drizzle warm caramel generously over apples. Drizzle melted chocolate in zigzag patterns. Sprinkle toasted pecans, dried cranberries, and flaky sea salt evenly over everything.
  6. If using white chocolate, drizzle on top last. Serve immediately while warm and gooey.

Notes

Best served immediately. Apples will brown after about 30 minutes. For make-ahead, prep toppings separately and slice apples just before serving. Keep caramel warm for best consistency. Don’t slice apples too thin—1/4-inch is ideal for structural integrity.
